Althea Moynihan
RN, MPH, CYT
- Certified Yoga Teacher (CYT)
- Registered Nurse
- Master's in Public Health
I am a certified Yoga teacher, and completed the intensive residential Yoga and Teacher Training program at the White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara, California. I am also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance. I have studied with distinguished yoga masters, including Judith Lasater and Gary Kraftsow, pioneers of yoga therapy. I continue to be inspired by these masters.
I am also a registered nurse:
I hold a Bachelors Degree in nursing and a Masters Degree in public
health. My nursing experience is in Pediatrics and Pediatric Intensive
Care. I’ve worked in a variety of healthcare settings, both
here in the USA and overseas as a clinical nurse, consultant and health
educator. I am certified as a fitness instructor, and have been
in the dance and fitness industry for over 30 years.
My personal yoga teaching style
blends the benefits of different yoga traditions, emphasizing form and
alignment with the Vinyasa style of coordinating breath and movement.
I also focus on strength, balance, endurance, and flexibility. Through
this yoga practice my students find new ways of moving, improved posture,
enhanced breathing, and a new self awareness.
On a personal note, I am the
mother of three children and have balanced work and family life for
most of my adult years. I believe the task of parents and care
givers is to support the innate development of our children into whole
human beings. Children bring to us their unique gifts and talents
and it is our job to help nourish and unfold the talents and the child.
I am pleased to provide yoga therapy to patients at Fair Oaks Therapeuticum and help foster the growth and development of all who partake in the journey of self transformation.
